Announcing the Top Ten! Drumroll, please....

The Maine Readers' Choice Award Shortlist has been announced!

If you think that these are the only "good" books from the list of well-over-100 that were considered, well, you'd be wrong.  There are many, MANY wonderful novels on that list.  But we had to make a decision, and here it is!

Benediction by Kent Haruf
The Enchanted Life of Adam Hope by Rhonda Riley
The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt
The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
The Hired Man by Aminatta Forna
Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls
The Tenth of December by George Saunders
TransAtlantic by Colum McCann
Visitation Street by Ivy Pochoda

You can read more about the award, the Shortlist, the process, etc all HERE.

These will be whittled down to a list of THREE by early May.  I'm not sure what will be more difficult - reducing the list to these 10, or reducing the list of these outstanding books to just three.  Oh, the agony!

Which of these have you read?  (I've read The Hired Man, The Silver Star, and as of this writing, I'm nearly finished The Golem and the Jinni, and I love it.)

Which one or ones are you rooting for?
